  Super Rock
  By Heidi, Deb and Fred
By day, he is Peter Zaremba, the dashing host of television's #1 music show, The Cutting Edge. By night, he is the city's truest vindicator, of none other than "Super Rock". Aided by his band of mighty men, they've formed an alliance known as The Fleshtones. Fighting dastardly villains is their mission. Whether saving us from the dregs that control our radio, or being hexbreakers for those lulled to sleep by the evil spellbinders, The Fleshtones want to make it safe once again for every man, woman and child to rock 'n roll. Last July, the Fleshtones flew into Molly's in Allston to combat one of the city's most feared meanaces, the dullgrums. Fuzbrainers Heidi, Fred and Deb talked to "Super Rock's" alter ego, Peter Zaremba, moments before his transformation and the Fleshtones' staged attack.

FUZBRAINS: How do you keep up with all the projects you're involved with?

Peter: Being as I'm involved in a volatile, dynamite mixture of rock 'n roll, television and fun, I doubt if I'll ever be less confused. It only gets worse, baby.

FUZBRAINS: Is your life all fun, or do you have downfalls at some points?

Peter: There's some long stretches of real life in there.

FUZBRAINS: Reality does strike once in a while.

Peter: I get hit with that old Reality Hammer.

FUZBRAINS: OH, NO!

Peter: Hey, that's a good name for a group, Reality Hammer.

FUZBRAINS: Reality Hamburger!?!

Peter: You might be wondering why we haven't released an album in three years.

FUZBRAINS: Yeah, why?

Peter: I dunno. That's what I asked myself. My solo record is coming out next week. It's really cool, too. It's called Peter Zaremba's Love Delegation, and the title of the album is "Spread The Word". It has eleven songs on it, four of which are covers. There's an Aretha Franklin song called "Save Me"; there's a song the Capitols did called "Chained to your heart". There's a version of "After Midnight" by J.J. Cale, and then there's a version of Lee Hazelwood's song, "Some Velvet Morning". Nancy Sinatra had a big hit with it.

FUZBRAINS: Is it a duet?

Peter: Yes, it's a duet with Wendy Wild and I.

FUZBRAINS: So, why no recordings from the Fleshtones in the three years?

Peter: We've just been playing constantly - non-stop playing of rock 'n roll. Non-stop Light Reaction ...what's that? Non-stop sound reality - something or other. Something like that.

FUZBRAINS: We heard the Fleshtones had a recording session in Atlanta.

Peter: We did a whole session in Atlanta that NO ONE from R.E.M. attended. (laughter) So, we went down there. We were gonna record all these old cheap songs we had hanging around. Instead, we went and recorded four new songs: one called "Inner Groove", a song I wrote called "I Forget How To Talk", and two other songs Keith and I wrote right there on the spot.

FUZBRAINS: When can we see these songs on vinyl?

Peter: 6-88 should put out two of the four songs. They're doing a compilation and they want to add us for credibility's sake. We would really like to record an album. We're going to Spain at the end or the month. I wanna go to the studio where Los Bravos recorded "Black Is Black". (more laughter) We'll be in Spain for about a week. We'll be playing four shows and a festival. We've never been to Spain, so that's why we're going. We're supposed to play in London. We'll see how THAT works out. We haven't played in Britain in a few years. Last time we played there we swore we would never return.

FUZBRAINS: What happened?

Peter: It's horrible there. People just hated us and we hated them. It was real miserable. So we decided never to go back. But we broke our vow, I guess.

FUZBRAINS: What about continental Europe?

Peter: Well...we had offers to do France, but we decided against it at this point. We may go back later.

FUZBRAINS: Well if you're going over to Spain, you may as well hit France.

Peter: That's what everyone said, "OH if you're going there, you might as well go to France, and if you're going to France, you might as well hit Germany, then you might as well hit Norway, and while you're hitting Norway, Sweden's on the way."! We might as well come back in four and a half months.

FUZBRAINS: We love The Cutting Edge! It's got to be the best music show on television. For those who don't know about it, you wanna give it a plug?

Peter: The Cutting Edge is on MTV once a month, the last Sunday of every month. It's the highest rated show on MTV. It's sort of a new music show, if there is one. So, that's what I'm doing. Don't talk me out too much 'cos I've gotta sing tonight.
